RiverzEdge, Class of 2011
We are very pleased, excited and honored once again with the accomplishments of our graduating class of seniors and their acceptances to college. ALL of our seniors continue to graduate high school, apply, and gain acceptance to college!
We would like to thank Jo Goode and the Family Resources Community Action crew for helping some of our seniors by inviting them to attend FRCA’s College Readiness workshop series. Your dedication to the youth of our community is much appreciated!
Without Further Ado, Here They Are!
Mike Bailey-Gates has been a superstar photographer in our Digital Photography Studio for the past 2 ½ years. Mike will be attending the School of Visual Arts (SVA) in New York City and majoring in photography on a large scholarship. He was also accepted to FIT, but decided that he liked the SVA acronym better.
Mackenzie Langlais has been a talented painter in our Visual Arts Studio for the past 1 ½ years. She will be attending Rhode Island College to study “who knows what”, but we know she will be really good at that. We will miss her deadpan impersonations and her hard work in the Photography Studio (this is a joke for you Mackenzie).
Ericka Mack has done a little of everything during her 4 year tenure with us. She started off in the Painting Studio, worked in the first incarnation of the Green Design Studio and has learned the craft of photography in our Digital Photography Studio for the past 2 years. Ericka will be attending the University of Connecticut’s Medical School program on a very large scholarship. She will no doubt be saving lives 8 years from now as a great doctor…actually she saves lives everyday with her kindness. Ericka was also accepted to the University of Rhode Island and was waitlisted at Wesleyan.
Jalizza Ramos has been with us for the past 2 years, first as a member of the Painting Studio (where she made an amazing painting of a cow) and more recently as a designer in our Graphic Design Studio. Jalizza will be attending the University of Rhode Island on a substantial scholarship where she will be an Education major studying to be the best English teacher ever!
Halle Rasco has been an accomplished designer in our Graphic Design Studio for the past 2 ½ years. Halle received a major scholarship to attend Mount Ida College in Massachusetts where she will be majoring in Graphic Design, and one day, hopes to be the make-up artist for Lady Gaga. She was also accepted to undergraduate programs at the Art Institute of Boston, LaSalle College and Rhode Island College.
Jade Shaver has been an inventive painter in our Visual Arts Studio for the past 3 years. Jade will be attending the Community College of Rhode Island. Jade’s evolution as an artist has ranged from painting portraits of Lil’ Wayne to painting portraits of Lil’ Wayne.
Sierra Valois has been a member of the Visual Arts Studio for the past 3 ½ years where she has developed into a very talented and prolific artist. Sierra will be attending the University of Rhode Island on scholarship and will be a Biotechnology major and minoring in Photography, and one day, will be the brightest and most ethereal artist/scientist in the world!
Jamel Williams has been a screen-printing extraordinaire in our Screen Printing Studio for the past 2 years and has stolen a kiss from the First Lady Michelle Obama. He will be heading off to Johnson & Wales to pursue his dream of being a chef. We will miss Jamel and his stuffed cabbage casserole recipe.
